On Sunday, August 14, 2022 in the early morning, Carol “Dompie” Gray, stepped out of her body and leaped into a new glorious body that her Lord had waiting for her.
Carol was born December 12, 1955 to the late Samuel Myers Sr. and Vivian Inez Myers.
Carol was educated in the Berkeley County School System. She is a graduate of Goose Creek High School Class of 1974. She later relocated to New York and continued her studies as a Dental Hygienist at New York University. She worked several years in the accounts payable department at Chemical Bank in New York. After relocating back to South Carolina Carol joined the National Car Rental and worked from 1998 to 2000. She later volunteered her time at the Berkeley Intermediate School.
Carol was taught at a young age the importance of knowing and honoring the Almighty God. In 1975 while living in New York she became a member of The Church of the Open Door in Brooklyn, NY. When she moved back to South Carolina, she renewed her membership at Joshua United Methodist Church under the leadership of Rev. Wyatt C. Minton.
She reunited with her high school sweetheart Marvin B. Gray, they joined in holy matrimony on August 26, 2006.
Carol was blessed with eight sisters and seven brothers. Carol’s twin preceded her in death. James, David, Thomas, Samuel Jr., Paul, Silas Myers, and Samuel Parson. Three sisters preceded her in death Rosemary Huger, Delores Myers, and Emily Myers.
Carol leaves behind to remember her gentleness of the home. Her husband: Marvin B. Gray; one son: Shannon Raymond Trenton Myers-Monroe; one daughter: Sharne’ Jamii Monroe; and pet Patch; five sisters: Sadie Williams, Marie Myers-Ford, Ruth Hampton, Velma Douglas, and Lundeen M. Graham; father-in-law: Johnnie Gray; six brothers-in-laws: Frank Sass, Thomas Ford, Samuel Hampton III, Robert Douglas, Rev. Dr. Alfred Williams, and Jerome Gray; five sisters-in-laws: Phyllis Myers, Daisy Myers, Virginia Myers, Carolyn Myers, and Doris Graham; two aunts: Lillie Mae Jenkins and Hazel P. Starks; one goddaughter: Tasha Bowens; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
