Beryl King Obituary

Beryl A. King entered this world on October 21st, 1931. She was the fourth of six children born to Ilka J. Jack and her husband Charles King in the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Beryl was preceded in death by her three older siblings in early 2015.

She completed most of her education on the Island in accordance to British Standards. She had a passion for educating young people, and used this skill while she was leading Girl Guides, and Brownies (Girl Scouts). She worked as a sales person while she was in St. Vincent, but when she relocated to the United States/ New York in 1961, she accepted a job with the United Nations. This job allowed her to travel around the world, and it offered her training that increased her educational level. She worked as an accounting assistant. Beryl absolutely enjoyed working with her United Nations Family. Entertainment was another passion that she shared with her friends and family. She used her abundance of energy to create exotic meals from around the world, then invited many people over to her apartment to eat with her. She eventually retired from the United Nations in 1995, but did return part time for certain mission assignments.

Beryl chose to remain single. She said that she never found the right man. She did, however, adopt one little girl, Aiesha N. Brown in 1980 whom she loved very much after meeting her during a vacation in St. Vincent.

Beryl relocated to Moncks Corner, South Carolina in 2014 so she could be close to her youngest sister Norma Chambers. It is here that she took a liking to the biblical teachings at Berkeley Church of Christ, and she became a member in 2015.

She is truly missed by her family and friends since she exited the realm on Friday, December 21st, 2018. She leaves behind her sister: Norma Chambers; brother: Maurice King; daughter: Aiesha King, Grandchildren: Christian and Leira; Nieces: Marcia King, Giselle Faye, Denise Prescod, Kyerewah Bonsu’anane, Yolande King, Michele Elliott, Marissa King; Nephews: Andre’ Chambers.
