Bertha Snell Obituary

Sister Bertha Lee Snell was born July 15, 1953 in Vance, South Carolina. She is the daughter of the late
William “Mitt” Snell and the late Ruby Anderson Snell. After a short battle with cancer, Sister Snell was
called home on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at the Medical University of South Carolina, Charleston,
South Carolina.

Sister Snell graduated from Robert High School, Holly Hill, SC in 1972. During that same year, she was
crowned Robert High School’s Homecoming Queen. After of what was only meant to be a Summer
vist to New York, she made White Plains, New York her permanant home. She attended Union Baptist
Church in Greenburg, New York where she was baptized and served as a faithful member under the
Pastoral leadership of the late Reverend Robert Mason.

Sister Snell was employed at C-Con in White Plains, New York before becoming a Housekeeper and
Nanny for the late Byron and Debbie Golden in Searsdale, New York. She helped to raise their three
children, Mitchell, Jason and Amy from a young age until they all graduated from high school.

In 1991, she decided to move her family to Vance, South Carolina to take care of her ailing parents. After
relocating to South Carolina, Sister Snell worked at Van Den Plas in Vance, South Carolina and later
became the Town Clerk for Vance Town Hall.

Upon her return to South Carolina, she became a member of First Baptist Church in Vance, South
Carolina and sang on the choir. She loved to sing. Her favorite songs include, “There’s A Leak In This
Old Building” by Lashaun Pace, “I Can’t Give Up Now” by Lee Williams, and Shekinah Glory.

The Lord and her family was everything to Sister Snell. She was like a comedian that loved to make
you laugh. She also loved her soap operas, especially The Young and the Restless and the Bold and the
Beautiful. She will be missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her older sister, Dorothy Snell Goodwin.
