Alton Brown, the son of Naomi Brown and the late Roger Cummings, was born November 22, 1962, in Holly Hill, SC. He departed this life on March 3, 2020, at the age of 57. Alton grew up in the Shuler Corner of Shuler Belt Road in the Providence Community in Holly Hill, SC. As a young child, he attended Dantzler Elementary School and graduated from Roberts High School in Holly Hill, SC. After graduating, he moved to Bowman, SC, where he worked as a Contract painter (interior and exterior) in and around Orangeburg County. He resided at 107 Avens Court, Bowman, SC. Alton had a loving and giving heart. He was a quiet man and always smiled. As far as football was concerned, Alton's favorite team was the Dalllas Cowboys.
He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Missionary Patricia Bilams, brother, Melvin Brown and maternal grandparents, Rev. Robert and Louise Willis Brown, Sr., and paternal grandparents, Mack and Dora Cummings, Sr.
Alton leaves to cheris his precious memories: his mother; four sisters, Julia M. Brown, Orangeburg, SC, Stephanie Cummings, St. George, SC, Mary L. (Kendall) Jamison and Venzaree Simon, Santee, SC; two brothers: Michael (Carol) Brown, Bowman, SC and Curtis Brown, Santee, SC; one brother-in-law, Deacon Connie Bilams, Miami, FL; one sis-in-law, Clara A. Brown, Santee, SC; twelve aunts: Carolyn Elmore and Louise Washington, Miami, FL, Annie Ruth Brown, Orangeburg, SC, Sarah C. Brown, Santee, SC, Lois C. Lemon, St. George, SC, Alma C. (Roosevelt) Matthews and Vernell Cummings, Bowman, SC, Jenevive Cummings and Annie C. Hadden, Jersey City, NJ, Clara Brown, Santee, SC, Mary Summers, Orangeburg, SC, and Lucille Clark, Holly Hill, SC; three uncles: Leo Brown, Orangeburg. SC, Robert L. Brown, Jr., Bowman, SC, and Mack Cummings, Jr., St. George, SC; a special friend, Betty Lou Mack; three children, Tamika Mack, Shamika Mack and Kelin Mack; six grandchildren: Tajh Mack, Tynathan Luckett, Tyveion Mack, Terrance McFadden, Tyanthony McFadden, and Tymaury McFadden, all of Bowman, SC, and all of which he helped raise from birth; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
