I am truly saddened to learn that you are mourning the loss of your dear love one. Death is very painful and we will never get used to it. Almighty God promise that soon death will be swallowed up forever along with the pain and sorrow it brings. ( Isaiah 25:8) As for the many that have fallen asleep in death, he promise that they will be ressurrected to life, here on earth. ( John 5: 28, 29; Psalms 37: 29) May this hope along with the wonderful memories you have of Peter helps you to cope.
