Nathaniel Washington Obituary

Nathaniel Washington was born in Charleston, SC on June 16, 1941 to the late Joseph Washington and Rebecca Snipes Washington.

He attended the public schools of John Island, SC and migrated to New York to live at an early age.

Mr. Washington was a loving, sweet, kind, friendly and quiet spirited person. Every time you saw him he was smiling. He loved driving and going different places. He worked and enjoyed his job as a forklift driver for many years in the construction industry.

He later met and married the love of his life, Ella Washington in New York. Later they returned to South Carolina and resided in Eutawville. He became a member of Canaan Land Apostolic Church where he served on the Trustee Board.

He always shined his beautiful light into the world and onto others. He truly lived his life according to Ephesians 4:32- “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ”.

Nathaniel was loved by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and all who came in contact with him.

God took His servant home on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 after a short illness, surrounded by his loving and devoted wife Ella Washington. His memories will be cherished by his wife, his children: Valerie Jenkins and Linda Williams of Charleston, SC, and Sabrina of New York; three brothers: John Rivers, Hawkin Freeman, and Fred Snipe; one sister: Anna Rivers; fifteen grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
