Gary Johnson, Sr. was born on February 25, 1955, to the late Lewis Charles Johnson and Doretha Johnson Bullock in Miami, FL. He received his education within Miami Dade County Public School system. 

In 1982, Gary married Gwendolyn Howell (Williams). In this union they were blessed with one son, Gary Johnson, Jr. and three daughters, Felicia Yvonne Johnson, who preceded him in death, Shameika Johnson McRae, and Mary Johnson Chapman. 

In the year 1988 Gary and his family relocated to Cross, SC to better raise their children. Growing up in a Christian environment, Gary received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Gary and his family joined his father-in-law church ministry Full Gospel Deliverance Church in Eutawville, SC to help serve in ministry. Gary Sr. later moved away to New Jersey after the separation of his family and years later returned back to SC after finding out about his illness. His ex-wife took care of him until his passing.  Gary went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 6th, 2017. 

Gary was an amazing man who touched the life of many through his words of encouragement, wisdom, jokes, and prayers. 

His loving memory lives on in the hearts of those he left behind. His ex-wife Gwendolyn Williams; Son: Gary Johnson, Jr. of Washington State; Daughters: Shameika McRae, of Salisbury, NC, Mary Chapman (Kevin Chapman) of Greensboro, NC; Five grandchildren; His siblings: Sister: Linda Johnson, Brothers: Lewdale Johnson, Three brothers that proceeded him in death: Raymond Johnson, Lester Johnson, and Eugene Johnson, all of Miami, FL; His father and mother-in-law: Bishop William and Mary Howell; Three brother-in-laws: Lorenzo Howell (Ursela), Jeremiah Howell (Yolanda), Melvin Howell (Marseline); Three sister-in-laws: Althea Lindo, Tabitha Howell, and Sherrie Mitchell (Douglas); and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
