Albert Mallard, Sr.

MR. ALBERT MALLARD, SR., the son of the late Joe Mallard, Sr. and Gracie Gilmore Mallard was born on April 6, 1943, in Holly Hill, South Carolina and transitioned from this life on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

He grew up and was educated in the public schools of Holly Hill, and at an early age he joined Unity AME Church, where he was a member until his passing.

He was a long-time employee of the Holly Hill Lumber Company where he worked as Mill-Wright (Trim Saw Operator) for many years, he also drove the taxi – cab in Holly Hill and the surrounding areas.

He met and married the late Mrs. Annie M. Jenkins Mallard on May 5, 1960, this union consisted of eight children, one whom preceded him in death Mr. Willie Jenkins.

Albert worked hard and loved his family. He leaves to cherish his fond memories, Elder Clyde (Linda) Jenkins, Ft Washington, MD., Vernette Jenkins of Holly Hill, SC, Patricia (Wayne) Rivers of Vance, SC, Betty (Harold) Gaither of Ft. Washington, MD, Alma Myers of the home, Albert Jr. (Paula) Mallard of Temple Hills, MD, and Elder Frederick (Lawanda) Mallard of Orange County FL; daughter-in-law: Barbara Jenkins of Holly Hill, SC; three siblings, Pernell Boyd of Orangeburg, SC, Louise Bell of Boston MS, and Reatha Bailey of Holly Hill, SC; four brothers-in-law, nineteen grand-children, twenty-six great grands, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who affectionately knew him as “Dad Da”.

Albert has never met a stranger, he greeted and loved everyone the same.  If he saw you and did not know who you were, by the time you departed from his presence he knew many things about you.  He was just that kind of person.  Albert loved to ask questions and get to know people.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed by those who shared his time and space here on Earth.
