Vanessa Zale Grant was born on March 15, 1953 to the late Herman N. Grant and Talluezita Cuffey Grant. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age. 

Vanessa received her education in the public school systems of Berkeley County, SC and Hempstead Long Island, NY. She graduated from Russellville High in 1971. 

She was wed in holy matrimony to Ishmael Prioleau, Jr. on December 3, 1975. During this time of marriage, there were four children born to this union: Neadesha,Felice, Ishmael III, and Matthew. 

Van, as she was affectionately called, was a well-known seamstress, quilt designer, a purveyor of various crafts, gardener, and writer of children short stories. She always enjoyed reading and studying the Word of God. 

On Tuesday, September 12, 2017, Ms. Vanessa Zale Grant Prioleau completed life's journey and answered God's call. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and a sister, Mrs. Zoila Thomas. 

Ms. Vanessa Zale Grant Prioleau leaves to cherish her memories her Children: Neadesha (Ortez) Howell, Felice Prioleau, Ishmael Prioleau, III, and Matthew (Katrina) Prioleau; Grandchildren: Malek Nelson, Makhi Nelson, Tanayah Gordan, Destiny Prioleau, Sheldon Prioleau, Jordan  Prioleau, Logan Prioleau; Four Brothers: Jerry (Ron) Grant, Thaddeus (Dean Marie) Grant, Allen (Deborah) Grant, and Clifford Brimmage; Two nieces who grew up in the home: Talluezita (Herman) Williams and Conzuella Campbell; Uncles and Aunts: William Cuffey, Chauncey Cuffey, Zoila Cuffey, Henrietta Hammond, Audrey Grant, Ammie Grant; and a host of special nephews and nieces, family and friends.
