James "Bobby" Capers, son of the late Mr. Rufus Capers and Mrs. Ollie Mae Johnson Capers, was born on July 10, 1941 in St. Matthews, South Carolina. He departed this life on Friday, November 24th, 2017 at Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro, South Carolina. 

James spent his early years in Holly Hill, SC where he attended Holly Hill Elementary School. The family relocated to Brooklyn, New York and he continued his educations at Boys' High School. He held various positions including being a security guard and working for a candy factory. Then he returned to South Carolina where he became a member of Live Oak AME Church and occasionally attended Greater Deliverance Tabernacle. 

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Mr. Paul Johnson, Mr. Arthur Capers, and Mr. David Capers, and a sister: Ms. Catherine C. Daniels. 

He leaves to cherish fond memories, one sister: Mrs. Ruby Benjamin of Staten Island, NY; one sister-in-law: Mrs. Willia Mae Capers of Santee, SC; one niece: Krista (William) Morris; two nephews: Gabriel (Mashell) Capers; and the late Laura (Richard) Benjamin all from Holly Hill, SC and a host of grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. 

Family will be receiving friends at 330 Sugar Hill Road, Holly Hill, SC 29059.
